Ready?….Go!!!!

My name is Cindy Nankoo and I am a teacher at Mater Christi College. I teach French and English. However, I only started teaching English to Year 9 students at Mater Christi this year. I thouroughly enjoy it and the challenges have kept me going. However, blogging seems to be such a big concept that I have been really scared to do it. But, I made up my mind that today would be the day! I asked one of my students, Fran, to take the role of the teacher and to demonstrate, show, help and support her fellow classmates and teacher! It’s working! I am blogging!
I really hope that my students will gain something from this activity. This year, we have tried to give them a range of experiences and I believe that blogging is a great one too. It’s also a great way to end the year! From what I can hear, they are enjoying the learning curve as much as I am…so let’s keep it going…
This term, we are doing Literature Circles in class and it’s still early stage. We haven’t had a meeting yet but it is very exciting. I never did anything like that when I was at school! We’ve also been trying to go back to the basics by doing spelling activities and comprehension tasks. They are great fun and students really appreciate them even if it means having to do more homework!
That’s it for now…I shall be back with more about how my class is going with blogging and English in general!
